The Charming Winter in Mt. Taishan

One can visit Mt. Taishan in each of the four season.

In spring, fresh green gradually covers the mountain slop. Mt. Taishan is decorated with white apricot, red peach and golden capsules of weeping forsythia flowers which blossom prettily. In summer, verdant vegetation grows and hundred streams flow with vitality spreading everywhere from top to bottom. Autumn is the season of the richest colors on Mt.TaiShan. Under the clear blue sky, and the leaves of smoke trees and star-like maples are red like fire, the leaves of ginkgo and purple linden look yellow like gold while verdant pines and cypresses do not wither. Mt. TaiShan at such a moment is just like a traditional Chinese painting of thick colour.

Mt.Taishan also has special charm in winter when the temperature is lower at the top of the mountain. Whenever the cloud and mist wave to and fro from the top, the water-drops in the cloud and mist run into the cold objects and quickly freeze into ice, and forms spotlessly white glittering and translucent "fog rime". When the fog rime appears, Mt.Taishan will be covered with silver clothing with thousands of frozen trees blossoming like white pear tress under the sunshine. The whole top of the mountain looks like a dragon palace and dwelling-caves. If drizzle comes, "rain rime" will appear. Thus the top of the mountain will change into an incomparably noble and vivid world of jade.

The Sun Rising in the Eastern Sky

Sunrise from Mt.Taishan is one of the most magnificent spectacles offered by Mt.Taishan.

Standing on the top of the mountain at fine dawn and looking down at the distance to the east, one sees a ray of morning light change from murky grow to light yellow, and then to orange red. Later, red and purple clouds in the sky, under going myriad changes in the twinkling of an eye, become redder and redder. Then, vast rosy clouds blend into a sea of clouds on the horizon-Just at the right moment, the sun breaks through the cloud layer, finally lifts the cloud curtain like a drifting palace lantern, and has slowly risen on the horizon -The peaks at this moment become colorful, and the earth immediately receives color and life.

Mt.Taishan is located in the east of China-Since ancient times, people thought that Mt.Taishan was nearest to the sun. The ancients once held various ceremonies at the top and foot of Mt.Taishan expressing their worship of Heaven and the sun. This custom has been kept from generation to generation. Ascending to the top and watching the sunrise from Mt.Taishan has become the desire of each visitor. People praise the sun and feel grateful for the present of the sun. The feeling between man and the sun on the top of Mt.Taishan is very moving.
